Last Friday afternoon, Weobley High School Year 11 students had an opportunity to speak to business and trade professionals from across the county and beyond in a “Careers Speed Dating” event. It was organised to inspire our future workforce about real jobs; practise those all-important communication skills, dispelling some myths, “office jobs are boring and the same every day,” and challenging some gender stereotypes- “girls can be brilliant engineers, surveyors and managers!”
In a fast paced, 6 minute slot, students asked a barrage of questions of the 32 different speakers ranging from architects, 5 different types of engineer, police, army, H.R. managers, apprentices, bankers, artist blacksmiths, editors and many more!
Feedback from the employers has been extremely positive. Year 11 students did themselves proud.
