Weobley High School win gold at Winter Games 2016!

WEOBLEY attended the Winter County Games 2016 at Hereford Leisure Centre on February 10 and came away with six medals – three gold, one silver and two bronze. This was the best the school has ever achieved at the tournament and they still have futsal and basketball finals to play.

The Year 7 boys and girls are now both county champions in Sports Hall Athletics and the KS3 girls are now county badminton champions. “This is purely down to their dedication and extra practice they have put in during their lunch times. It’s brilliant to see this hard work pay off for them” – Mr ¬†West .

The boys KS4 badminton team came up against a formidable Cathedral High School team in the final but showed a good account of themselves coming runners up.

The Year 8 boys came 3rd in the Sports Hall Athletics which is a massive stride forward for them as they didn’t reach the finals last year. “They have shown great determination to improve and I’m very happy this was rewarded.”

The Year 8 girls came 3rd in Sports Hall Athletics and thoroughly enjoyed an excellent day at the 2016 Winter Games.
