Letter for parents – Birmingham university trip

27th April 2017

Dear Parent / Carer,

We are running a University Taster Day for our Year 10 students in order to give them an insight into higher education and to focus on raising aspirations.  Please take the time to talk to your son/daughter about his/her aspirations and complete the slip below if you believe that it would be beneficial.  As a benchmark, any pupil considering university should be looking at having the potential to achieve a grade 5 in both English and Mathematics. Nevertheless we are keen to include any pupil who may even be considering it as an option for the future.

The event has been booked at Birmingham City University for Wednesday 5th July.  In order to have a full experience we will need to leave Weobley at 8am prompt, returning at approximately 5pm. You will need to organise to collect your child. There will be no charge for this trip however you will need to provide a packed lunch and drink for your child. Students will be permitted to wear suitable casual clothing for the day and bring a mobile phone if they wish.

We only have limited spaces for this trip and so places will be allocated on a strict first come first served basis. Please return the attached consent form by Friday 12th May.

During the event there is an additional opportunity to have an Engineering Masterclass if students wish to. (Engineering is extremely diverse in nature can involve sport, textiles, technology to name but a few as well as the traditional forms of engineering such as aerospace, mechanical, design etc.)  I need to know numbers as soon as possible to arrange this as they require minimum numbers to run this event for us. Please fill out the form below to register your child’s interest

If you have any query, please contact me.

Yours faithfully,

Debbie Stokes
