It has been another year of outstanding results for the students of Weobley High School.  Attainment across the board has been very impressive with students achieving strong results in the core subjects as well as in the wide range of option subjects. Particularly encouraging once again is the very high proportion of students who have achieved the English Baccalaureate suite of qualifications; this has increased yet again with over a third of students achieving a strong pass across this measure.  This is more than double the national average and reflects a sustained focus on high levels of academic achievement in English, mathematics, science, humanities and modern foreign languages in particular.

Although results are yet to be formally validated, currently 70% passed both English and mathematics and 50% achieved strong (Level 5+) passes in both subjects. 67% achieved 5 or more GCSEs including English and mathematics.

Headteacher, Dean Williams said, “This cohort of students worked incredibly hard and has achieved some fantastic results.  As well as the high standards of attainment I am particularly pleased by the breadth of qualifications achieved. This is an excellent set of results and the students should be rightly proud of their success. This would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the amazing staff here; they have nurtured and supported the students every step of the way.”

There were many outstanding individual performances with several students achieving high numbers of GCSEs at Level 7 (the old A grade) and above nevertheless a special mention must go to Tristan Harvey who achieved a remarkable 10 GCSEs at grade 9!
