April 2025

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to confirm the details of the final weeks of school for Year 11 students. These arrangements have been made following guidance from the JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) and follow standard practice for the majority of UK secondary schools.  The arrangements have been created with the intention of giving students the best chance possible to prepare effectively and then sit their crucial GCSE examinations.  A wide range of revision and support classes will continue to be offered during the final half term up to the end of May; please see below for details:

Up to and including Wednesday 8th MayYear 11 students will remain in school as normal.
Monday 12h May to Friday 23rd MayThe main exam period starts on the 12th May.  During this initial period before half-term, all students will be sitting GCSE exams. Students are also expected to attend school as normal; there will be timetabled lessons as usual for all students who are not sitting an exam as well as revision sessions.
Monday 26th May – Friday 30th May – Half-Term
Monday 2nd June onwardsAfter half-term, Year 11 students are only required to attend school to sit their exams. They are not required to be in school when they do not have an exam although there will be a revision room available for anybody who prefers to revise in school.  Any students who choose to remain in school must attend the revision room if they are not in an exam.  Students are not permitted to leave the premises between exams and should ensure that they arrive in good time for the start of their exams in the morning. Students should remain on site if they have both a morning and afternoon exam.

Please note that school uniform is to be worn at all times including throughout the examination period. Leavers’ hoodies may be worn as soon as they have been received in school but may NOT be worn in an exam

Easter & May Half Term Revision Sessions

The following sessions are being held over the Easter Holidays and May Half Term to support revision; individual subjects will provide more details to the students.

GCSE PE Paper 1 – Tuesday 15th April 10.00am to 3.00pm

GCSE PE Paper 2 – Thursday 29th May 10.00am to 3.00pm

Year 11 Prom

The Date for the Year 11 Prom will be Wednesday 25th June, more details to follow

This will inevitably be a stressful time for students and their families. If you have any queries or concerns that we might assist you with then please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Dixon
