ASDAN is an education charity and awarding organisation providing an activity-based GCSE alternative programme created for learners to develop confidence, self-esteem, and resilience, helping them to believe in themselves and the value of learning.
At Weobley High School we offer different qualifications and programmes to best suit our students and their educational pathway. This may include; a variety of short courses or Personal and Social Development Plan (PSD).
The short courses we are currently able to offer are:
  • PSHE
  • Careers and Experiencing Work
  • Gardening
  • Foodwise
  • Expressive Arts
  • Sport and Fitness
  • Animal Care
  • Roadwise
  • Maths
  • Living Independently
As a school, we value the flexibility of ASDAN courses allowing each programme to be customised to the individual learner. The main objective is to provide appropriate and meaningful courses to assist students that are going onto further education, training and or work.  ASDAN successfully works alongside mainstream education providing real life learning experiences.
ASDAN courses assist students in understanding and taking responsibility for their own learning through a range of activities and experiences. There are many opportunities that can be added to each short course further individualising student programmes to achieve the best outcomes.
ASDAN Short Courses are based on a portfolio of evidence rather than examinations, allowing students to have flexibility whilst building up success through modules instead of final year examinations. This process allows students to achieve and most importantly feel a sense of achievement.
ASDAN focuses on the development of key skills such as understanding my own learning, working as a team, problem solving, use of IT, use of literacy and maths through individualised programmes.
