This term year 8’s visited Weobley’s Motte and Bailey castle as part of their lessons whilst studying the Middle Ages.

Pupils walked down to see the earthworks that remain on the site of the castle that was first built towards the end of the 11th Century. Pupils sketched the remains of the castle and found out about its history and significance.

Year 11 GCSE History students also visited Shrewsbury Prison on the 14th July as part of their crime and punishment though time syllabus. It was an opportunity to experience a real Victorian prison.

Pupils experienced a guided tour of the prison. The experience started in reception where prisoners were processed, it included a tour of the wings, the cells, including the segregation units, exercise yards, healthcare and the execution room. Pupils had experienced what it is like to be processed into prison and handing over their belongings.
