In the month of March, myself (Mrs Stanton) and a handful of our Service students wanted to join the fundraising event ran by Combat Stress. The challenge was to complete 10 miles over the month of March. We did this as a group completing a mile a day for 6 days and then completing the final 4 miles walking up Begwyns Bluff.
The charity of Combat Stress is an important asset for any military veteran. They provide clinical treatment and support for veterans from the British Armed Forces, with a focus on those with complex mental health issues. When some military personnel leave service, their experiences can’t easily be left behind. Without treatment, psychological trauma can eventually tear lives apart.
They believe military trauma shouldn’t destroy the lives of veterans and their families. Combat Stress is the UK’s leading veterans’ mental health charity, the work they do is life-changing and often life-saving, which is why we as a collective chose to raise money for a charity which resonates with many military families.
As I write this our team has raised an amazing amount of £2161.25p, £90 of which came from the support of our other students through a bake sale.
